Confluent Learning's Holistic Practical Project Management

Holistic Practical Project Management

Project management is a major skill needed in any organization. Every organization, whether private or government, is faced with increasing pressure to complete projects within shorter time frames and with smaller budgets than in the past. Professionals around the world need to have a workable method to ensure that their projects are cost-effective, profitable, completed on time, and aligned with the strategic goals of their organization.

Confluent Learning’s Holistic Practical Project Management (HPPM) Program provides professionals with the essential skills they need to succeed in an increasingly demanding, complex, and competitive market. Based on the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, (PMBOK© Guide) – Seventh Edition, this training course combines real-world case studies and team exercises to strengthen technical competencies. The application of Confluent Learning principles and approach further expands the course to cover the human and political dynamics of project management.

WHAT ARE OUR LEARNING GOALS?

  1. Clear Project Objectives: The HPPM Program begins with defining clear and achievable project objectives. These objectives serve as the foundation for the entire project that guides the team’s efforts and decisions. By clearly articulating the desired outcomes, project managers can align the team’s focus, resources, and activities towards achieving those objectives.

  2. Robust Planning and Scheduling: The HPPM Program emphasizes thorough planning and scheduling. This involves breaking down the project into manageable tasks, estimating timeframes, and allocating resources accordingly. Effective planning allows project managers to identify potential bottlenecks, dependencies, and risks upfront – enabling them to proactively address challenges and keep the project on track.

  3. Resource Allocation and Team Management: The HPPM Program teaches efficient resource allocation and team management. Project managers must ensure that the right people with the appropriate skills and knowledge are assigned to the project. They need to effectively communicate roles, responsibilities, and expectations, fostering a collaborative and motivated team environment. By leveraging the strengths of each team member, project managers can optimize productivity and achieve project milestones.

  4. Risk Management: The HPPM Program emphasizes risk management as a continuous process. Project managers identify potential risks, assess their potential impact, and develop strategies to mitigate or eliminate them. By proactively addressing risks, project managers can minimize disruptions, avoid delays, and maintain project timelines.

  5. Effective Communication: Clear and effective communication is a cornerstone of the HPPM Program. Project managers must establish open lines of communication with all stakeholders, ensuring that everyone has a common understanding and shared meanings of project objectives, progress, expectations, and day-to-day communication contents. Regular updates, status reports, and meetings help keep all team members informed and engaged.

  6. Monitoring and Control: The HPPM Program instills diligent monitoring and control to track progress against the planned objectives of any project. Project managers employ various tools and techniques to measure project performance, such as key performance indicators (KPIs) and project metrics. By monitoring these, project managers can identify deviations from the plan, take corrective actions, and ensure that the project stays on course. Regular project reviews and evaluations enable continuous improvement and help optimize future projects.

WHAT BENEFITS CAN YOU GAIN FROM THE PROGRAM?

  1. Understand how to determine feasibility, design, build, monitor, deploy, and close a project; and how to integrate PMI’s Project Management Principles into each phase of a project.

  2. Assume the role of project manager in their company with the “power skills” that can exude their readiness and competence.

  3. Develop and manage a complex project plan based on the participant’s existing project. This approach has the advantage of thoroughly covering each of the Project Management Principles while applying it in the context of real-world project work.

  4. Pursue learning through real world experiences and case studies. In addition to technical competencies, the course emphasizes the psychology and politics of the craft by using examples from participants and the instructor’s own projects.

  5. Receive the 35 hours of project management education/training required to apply for a Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification.*

*This program is neither a PMP® Exam Prep course nor a credit course.

HOW DO WE ATTAIN THE GOAL?

The course will use Confluent Learning’s signature methodology called “c-Learning experience”, bringing a precise blend of dynamic and holistic learning processes in each session.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a certificate of completion from Confluent Learning which you can present to PMI as part of the requirements to take the PMI certification examination.
